Welcome to Relationship Tripping
You get one human body and one lifetime.
If you are lucky, you get to share it with another.
…
You get to do this.
Everyone says relationships are hard work, but most people have the wrong idea about what the work is.
It doesn’t need to feel like you are digging in a coal mine.
The “work” of relationships is in the thousands of small choices and daily interactions. It is in defining your intention for yourself and your partnership.
The result of the work is your own growth and greater love.
In Relationship Tripping, you will tap into the spirit of adventure, the curiosity of a scientist, and the training of an athlete.
There is a new relationship waiting for you on the other side.
What if we lived in a world where:
Couples get together to talk about challenges and triumphs, share practices and tools, and witness and celebrate each other like a book club for love.
It was normal - and expected — that you practice honest, clear communication at all times because the truth is verbal orgasm.
Relationships were considered the best investment you could ever make with an ROI out of this world.
There were relationship studios where you could drop in for connection practices, like a relationship tune-up. <—That’s our long-game vision.
Hello. We are your guides,
Jaye and Joe
We believe intimate partnerships are where it’s at.
Twelve years ago, our marriage was on the precipice. We had a choice: keep sleepwalking, break up or double down on love. We doubled down.
As journalists with more than three decades of experience, we have traveled and told stories from hidden corners of the world. We decided to turn our lens inward. We wanted to know how we had become distant and what it takes to have an epic love affair with your life partner.
We have worked and studied with therapists and coaches and relationship designers. We have studied tantra, breath work, and meditation. We dance the Five Rhythms, a moving meditation practice that has opened our worlds to the potential for non-verbal communication and self-awareness. We are constantly researching best practices for conflict resolution, better boundaries and consent conversations, self pleasure and partnered erotic practices. As journalists, we love interviewing other couples to find out what works for them.
Today, our partnership is a laboratory for love with daily experiments and practices. We question our assumptions and take copious notes on our findings.
These practices and the community of couples we have created has changed everything from how we run our businesses to how we parent. We just launched our two girls out into the world and we are finding this open-nesting chapter to be some rich terrain for love.
In 2020, we launched Relationship Tripping to share our findings with you.
No matter your relationship design, if you want to explore new dimensions of love and connection with another human, these practices and this container will support you.

Here’s what past Relationship Trippers have had to say:
“Relationship Tripping helped us play with new forms of being close.
As a couple, we have not been as present and communicative as we would have liked, whether we were avoiding sensitive issues or just not taking the time to really open up and hear each other’s expressions.
The exercises gave us new angles and perspectives. Jaye and Joe led us very intuitively and used their own relationship experience as a guide. We are on a very healthy journey to improving our relationship every day, with new tools at our disposal."
— Andy, 63, married for 20+ years.
Thank you again for an INCREDIBLE relationship tripping course. It was just what we needed. It gave us the practical tools and processes that we needed to help us take our relationship forward. We needed new ways of engaging each other that side-stepped a lot of our old patterns and triggers and RT did exactly that. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. - Brent
Absolutely nourishing. Thank you! My partner and I have been desiring what you two have created. This is the future of conscious partnership! - B.P.
“Relationship Tripping has been a beautiful and safe space for us to have conversations we have been wanting to have for a long time.”
— Suzanne, 43, married 18 years
"We were both surprised by how enjoyable it was to share our feelings, perspectives and struggles with other couples. We got close to our group and the learning that happened through understanding the similarity of our many struggles was invaluable.”
— A.C.
"We often talked about setting aside a day or evening to soak in all of the good present in our marriage, to dream big and notice our own presence together, but we allowed the demands of raising a family and having jobs to get in the way.
With the guidance of Jaye and Joe, and the other couples, we dedicated time for us and immersed ourselves in new habits and rituals that have enriched our ease and happiness as a couple.”
- Courtney
“We go to the gym to take care of our bodies. We want to stay healthy and vibrant as a couple so we did Relationship Tripping as a way to take care of us. ”
— Nicole, Married 1 year
"As a newish couple, this was exactly the foundation we were looking for to establish healthy relating practices and it gave us the space we needed to have conversations that have set us up for a new level of honesty, trust and support.”
— John
“I nwant what Jaye and Joe have.” Jess, 23

Jaye: I am an award-winning journalist. My TED Talk, What We Don’t Teach Kids About Sex has been viewed nearly 4 million times. I love amplifying the stories of women and girls who have broken free of their good-girl conditioning to expand the margins of what is possible for the rest of us. I write about culture and pleasure at The Pleasure Report.
Joe: I am a long-time producer of public radio documentaries and podcasts that tell the extraordinary stories of ordinary lives. You can hear three decades of storytelling at RadioDiairies.org
We live in NYC with our two teenage daughters. Well...we are down to just one this year. We are on the cusp of becoming open nesters.
Hear more from us on the Open Nesters Podcast where we talk about the importance of ritual and reinvention, and The Best Advice Show where we try to reduce what we’ve learned into 20 minutes.
